Plans are in progress for quarterly meetings outside of Sydney for May and August with the November meeting at Concord RSL. More details at the next meeting.
The show was very successful despite very inclement weather causing Friday to be closed for safety reasons.
Many exhibitors reported very strong sales and some sold out having to get emergency stock for sale.
The organisation of the event went pretty well with a couple of things that need to be addressed next show regarding signage, disabled parking and volunteer scheduling being the main complaints.
The show for next year is already well under planning with the provisional dates being October 11, 12 and 13 2013. Bookings are already being received. It appears we will have more vehicle manufacturers on the test track this year than last.
Please keep this date available for another conference hosted by the Australian Confederation of Motor clubs with politicians, regulators and other motor enthusiast groups such as hot rodders, vintage cars, etc.
This once again is our opportunity to demonstrate the size of the 4wd community and life style to politicians and regulators.
A flyer will be distributed shortly to promote this event.
Over the weekend 24/25 November Sydney District 4wd club and Triple Diamond 4wd club worked with the National Parks Blue Mountains Ranger to assist in clearing and maintaining management tracks in Ben Bullen national park and Wollemi National Park.
This activity was trial project to see how we could organise regular track activities with National Parks in the Blue Mountains area. The ranger has a number of tracks that need some assistance such as patrolling or clearing, in the area. Due to holidays and potential for fire bans this will most likely continue from late February.
Project classifying “Caves to Caves” is planned to happen in February/March with Blue Mountains, Triple Diamond, Sydney District and Black Diamond clubs. Black Diamond has offered to work on Abercrombie River NP in March.
Track classification of the Ben Bullen track in the ACT is planned for February 23.
Track classification management will be in new hands in the new year. Our new committee member Dawn Antal from Nepean Club will be looking after Track classification from February onwards.
People intending to camp at Stockton Beach in the Worimi Conservation Lands north of Newcastle, will need to make alternative arrangements, as camping remains closed while the area continues to recover, following severe winter storms. You should check out the current situation at the following web site - www.worimiconservationlands.com
Follow this link will take you to Plans of Management that are for public discussion currently.

If your club or region is carrying out activity or have regular contact with local land managers such as National Parks, State Forest or Lands Chris Keys would love to hear about it. It would be good to get a picture of the communications that 4wd clubs have these land managers across NSW. So please email Chris Keys at This email address is being protected from spambots.
